Selling event tickets in Uganda
Take mobile money for tickets online, then scan guests in at the gate from your phone.
Selling tickets by hand means counting cash at the gate, arguing about who already paid, and having no idea how many people are actually coming. Selling them through a page fixes all three.
Set up the event
- Storefront → New publication → Event. Add the date, time and venue.
- Create your ticket types — early bird, general, VIP — each with its own price.
- Set a quantity on any tier that should sell out. Leave it empty for unlimited.
- Publish, then share the link and QR code on your posters and socials.
How buyers pay
Buyers pay with MTN or Airtel mobile money. They enter their number, approve the prompt on their phone, and the order completes. Each ticket is issued with its own unique QR code and sent to them by email.
At the gate
Open the Check-in screen for your event on any phone and scan each guest as they arrive. A valid ticket shows green. A ticket that has already been scanned is rejected, so the same screenshot cannot get five people through the door. You can watch the checked-in count climb in real time.
Getting the money
Sales are collected for you and paid out to your mobile money number — set it under Storefront → Payouts. A small percentage fee comes off each sale; the current rate is on the pricing page. There is no charge for listing an event.
