Getting paid by mobile money
How buyers pay with MTN or Airtel, and how the money reaches your phone.
Every paid page on TQ — tickets, products, downloads, donations — collects by mobile money. Buyers do not need an account with us.
What the buyer does
- Chooses what they want and enters their name, email and mobile money number.
- A prompt appears on their phone asking them to approve the payment.
- They enter their PIN. The page confirms as soon as the payment clears.
If they miss the prompt, they can retry without starting over. Nothing is issued until the money actually arrives.
Setting up your payout account
Go to Storefront → Payouts → Settings and add the mobile money number your earnings should go to, plus the account name.
The name must match the SIM registration. This is the most common reason a payout fails — the number is right but registered to a spouse, a relative, or a business name that does not match what was entered.
When you get paid
Earnings from each sale are set aside for you net of the platform fee. Depending on your settings and the amount, they are either sent to your number shortly after the sale or gathered into a payout run. Small balances accumulate rather than paying out immediately, so that fixed transfer charges do not eat a small amount. You can see everything owed and everything paid on your Payouts page.
